doggie dnaprint® 1.0 kit results
What do the results look like when you order a kit? The section below
provides you an example of a typical results report for the mythical dog
"Fido". You can also
download a formatted PDF, which will look very similar to the report
you get by mail.
Introduction
Congratulations! Here are the results from the Doggie DNAPrint® 1.0
analysis. You will find several sections in this document, each with the
results from a particular aspect of the test. We hope you find this
informative, fun, and interesting. Please note that there is a glossary
in the user manual, in the event that you find any of the terms used in
this document to be unfamiliar. The results are displayed as follows:
- Genotypes - your dog’s genotypes at each of the 204 loci used to
uncover your dog’s ancestry.
- Ancestral Population Results - The relationship to the four
ancestral breed types
- 15-N Results - Score used to display closest breeds (coming
soon! - your results will be provided as soon as this information
comes online).
dog genotypes
Please see the table below for a full listing of your dog’s genotypes
at each of the 204 unique SNP markers used by DNAPrint to establish your
dog’s ancestry and breed information. Marker numbers are indicated in
black and the genotypes are in green. Two letters are provided at each
locus - one for each allele call:

ancestral population results
Recently published studies (Parker et al., 2004) indicate that there
are four main ancestral dog groups: 1) Wolf Like, 2) Herders, 3)
Hunters, and 4) Mastiff.
The relationship of your dog to these distant parental breeds is
indicated in the following table:

Four Population Comparison
A graphical display (bar plot) of the relative proportion of the four
ancestral breeds in your dog and in a database of reference animals. The
four ancestral breeds are:
- Wolf-like in yellow
- Herders in green
- Hunters in red
- Mastiff in blue
The representation of your dog can be seen at the left side of the
diagram. Please note that for some of the reference animals, there are
several individuals displayed per breed.

15-N Population Results
The 15-N population results is a series of 15 numbers,
algorithmically derived from the 204 genotypes, that can be used to
identify the breed of your dog. This is done by comparing your dog’s
15-N population results to a reference database of pure and known mixed
breeds. As the database is periodically updated, you may be interested
in searching the database from time to time to get more refined results.
The searchable database is located on our web site, at the following
link:

Listed below are the 15-N Population Results from your dog, followed by
the top ten best matches in the database.
